In a bold and meticulous effort to preserve American heritage, Keller North America partnered with Williams Engineering to restore and retrofit two historic buildings at the iconic in San Antonio, Texas. The objective was clear: strengthen aging structures without compromising their historical significance.

Our A722 Grade 150 All-Thread Bar, in various diameters, provided the strength and flexibility needed for deep foundation work on delicate, historically sensitive structures.
Project Highlights & Challenges
This wasn’t a typical micropile installation.
To preserve the original facade and architectural elements:
- The buildings were gutted and fully braced internally
- Drill rigs and installation equipment had to be lowered by crane into the site
- Work was completed within tight physical constraints and under careful preservation oversight
Despite the complexity, Keller and Williams worked in tandem to ensure the micropile anchors were installed safely and precisely—providing modern strength beneath structures that date back centuries.

This successful retrofit was led by Rushton Tanner and Chris Robertson, representing Keller North America. Their experience and leadership, paired with Williams’ robust anchoring solutions, ensured that the mission to preserve history with modern engineering was achieved without compromise.
