At Williams, leadership isn’t just about titles, it is about building strong teams, making thoughtful decisions, and supporting a shared vision. One person who embodies all of that and more is Ron Townsend, our President and CFO, based in Belmont, MI.

From Waterloo to Williams: A Career Built on Commitment

Ron began his journey with Williams Form Hardware & Rockbolt Canada LTD in July 1995. Just two years later, in 1997, he relocated to Michigan to take on the role of Vice President of Finance. His leadership and financial acumen quickly became evident, and in 2007, Ron was named President.

Ron graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1988 and earned his CPA designation in 1989, setting a strong foundation for a career that has combined financial strategy with operational leadership. With nearly three decades at Williams, Ron has been an instrumental part of the company’s sustained growth and success.

A People-First Approach to Leadership

In his current role, Ron oversees both finance and day-to-day operations, ensuring the company runs smoothly and strategically. But when asked about what makes his job possible, he’s quick to credit the entire Williams team:

“Without all of our team members, my job would be impossible. We have an excellent team, and that’s what makes us strong.”

Ron’s collaborative mindset and respect for every individual’s contribution have helped foster the strong, team-focused culture Williams is known for.

Life Beyond the Office

Outside of work, Ron brings the same energy and enthusiasm to his personal life. A lifelong athlete, he played hockey from age 3 until 50 and now enjoys spending time on the golf course. He’s also a devoted family man, he married Michelle in April 2000, and together they have four children: Brendan, Meghan, Cassidy, and Curtis.

When it’s time to relax, you’ll likely find Ron enjoying a plate of chicken wings, a cold beer, and a great game at his favorite sports bar.

Words to Live By

Ron’s leadership is guided by a positive, grounded outlook on life:

  1. “Live every day, enjoy every moment. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.”
  2. “Something can be learned from every experience you have. Take the positive out of everything and let the negativity go.”
