Rob Overbeek’s journey with Williams Form Engineering spans two decades, marked by continuous growth and leadership. He graduated from Michigan State University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering and began his career at a food packaging company in Grand Rapids. During his four years there, he focused on designing and drafting food packaging lines, as well as determining the size, style, and materials used for food packaging.

In 2005, Rob joined Williams Form Engineering, initially evaluating packaging methods and playing a key role in renovating the Madison plant downtown. He was instrumental in launching the company’s Strand offering by implementing its first Strand extrusion line. Shortly after, he transitioned to the Rusche plant, where he took the role of Plant Manager for several years. In 2014, he moved to the corporate office, stepping into his current position as Vice President of Operations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As Vice President of Operations, Rob oversees plant managers, labor efforts, and freight programs while also focusing on improving daily logistics, equipment updates, and automation. His responsibilities extend to real estate and facility management, as well as acting as the company’s safety director. In this role, he leads managers in creating a safer work environment, ensuring that manufacturing processes are as secure as possible for all employees.

Key Achievements

Rob has spearheaded several major initiatives throughout his tenure. He played a crucial role in launching the company’s barcoding system, which introduced a tag system to improve tracking, inventory management, and accuracy across all shops. He was also a key member of the leadership team that successfully transitioned the company to the Epicor ERP system, a massive undertaking that streamlined operations. His contributions to continuous improvement efforts, including building enhancements, technology integration, and machinery automation have helped Williams Form Engineering maintain its position as a leader in anchoring solutions.

Personal Insights

Outside of work, Rob is deeply committed to his family. Alongside his wife, Kate, he takes great pride in raising their three sons, supporting them as they explore their interests in school, sports, and hobbies. Family remains a central part of his daily life.

He enjoys spending time on the water, golfing, traveling, and exploring everything Michigan has to offer. Whether boating, skiing, or discovering new destinations, he finds joy in outdoor adventures and making lasting memories with family and friends.
