Employee Spotlight: Mandy Olson’s Decade of Dedication & Growth
At Williams Form Engineering, we celebrate the dedication and hard work of our employees. This month, we are proud to shine the spotlight on Mandy Olson, who celebrates 10 years with the company (4/28/25) and whose leadership and commitment have played a crucial role in our success.
Background & Career Journey
Mandy Olson graduated from Wayne State College in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a minor in Computer Information Systems. She began her career at Wayne State’s Network and Technology Services department, managing the campus computer helpdesk and assisting students with their dorm room network connections. While working full-time, Mandy earned her Master’s in Business Administration in 2002.
Following her studies, Mandy joined Digital Blue, a company that manufactured educational electronics for children, such as computer microscopes and cameras. She managed the technical call center and online store fulfillment, later advancing to oversee both the call center and warehousing operations. She played a key role in distributing products to major retailers like Walmart, Toys R Us, and Target, under well-known brands such as Disney, American Idol, and Tony Hawk. However, when the company faced economic challenges in the late 2000s, Mandy was among the last employees before its closure.
In 2015, Mandy joined Williams Form Engineering as Plant Manager. At that time, the facility operated with 3 Teskers, 2 saws, and 20,000 square feet of manufacturing space, supported by a team of 15-20 employees. Over the years, she has led the facility through significant expansion, growing operations to 7 Teskers, 4 saws, 60,000 square feet, and a team of 40-50 employees. Mandy manages day-to-day operations, including production scheduling, safety training, shipping and receiving, and cross-departmental communication. Looking back on her decade at Williams, she takes great pride in the team’s achievements and the company’s continued growth.
One of the most remarkable milestones during her tenure was the summer of 2018, when Williams handled several large wind projects. In just one month, the team shipped over 5 million pounds of steel, with similarly high volumes throughout the summer. These complex projects required bars of varying lengths—some as short as 27 feet—each sleeved in PVC and assembled with a hex nut and tower nut before shipping.
Key Achievements
Mandy is dedicated to workplace safety and employee development, maintaining her CPR/First Aid instructor certification to provide valuable training for employees. She finds fulfillment in teaching and mentoring young professionals, helping them achieve their career goals.
Beyond Williams, Mandy is actively involved in her community:
- Executive Board Secretary for the Wayne Area Economic Development Association (WAEDA)
- Secretary for the local Cub Scout Pack
- Member and past President of the Wayne Business and Industries Group
- Confirmation Sponsor at her church
Personal Insights & Fun Facts
Outside of work, Mandy enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, Jaret, stay busy with their 7-year-old daughter, Abigail, who participates in Cub Scouts, bowling, golf, softball, wrestling, art, and soccer. The family loves to travel and recently visited Disney World.
In her free time, Mandy enjoys:
- Golfing in a women’s golf league
- Bowling in a league
- Four-wheeling, fishing, concerts, and camping
- Working on her family’s 900-acre farm alongside her father and brother, raising soybeans and corn. She finds peace in driving tractors and tilling the soil, calling it her “cheap therapy.” Completing a successful fall harvest is one of her favorite accomplishments.
We are incredibly grateful for Mandy’s leadership, dedication, and contributions to Williams Form Engineering. Her journey is a testament to hard work, resilience, and passion for both her career and community. Thank you, Mandy, for all that you do!
