Post Tensioning Systems Case Histories:
Glenwood Canyon, Colorado I-70

The State of Colorado Highway Department set out to continue I-70 through beautiful and environmentally sensitive Glenwood Canyon in western Colorado. To do so they chose the balanced cantilever sections. Precast sections were also used to create retaining walls by post tensioning precast double T sections to prepoured foundations. Williams 1", 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" 150 KSI All-Thread-Bars were used by the contractor, Flatiron Structures, in all phases of the post tensioning work including the precast sections for a bike path which runs adjacent to the highway the full length of the canyon. A marvelous project, which through cooperation of the State Highway Department, contractors, engineers and suppliers, was completed almost a year ahead of schedule with minimal effect on the environment.
