H-3, Oahu Hawaii

The H-3 project is a new Highway linking the populous Honolulu area with the less populous windward side of Oahu Island. The extremely long elevated sections made the precast segmental method of construction very cost effective. 150 KSI pre-stress rods are used extensively for temporary bars to hold the segments together while the epoxy sets up and the permanent stressing is complete. Special bars are also fabricated to hold the individual sections of the launching gantry together.
