At the Tieton Dam Tunnel, rock from the tunnel crown had fallen on the twin steel transmission pipes causing damage. Subsequent inspection showed some very large unstable blocks of rock and it was decided to consolidate by rock bolting the crown of the outlet works tunnel. The Bureau issued the contract which included pattern rock bolting as well as specific target rock bolting to stabilize the tunnel and protect the twin water transmission pipes. According to Ray Whittacre, project manager for Faucett Mine Service, they were very pleased with the speed and dependability of the Williams Spin-Lock Rock Bolts. He states they were installing 60 bolts in an eight hour shift with one crew.
