Unique engineering solutions were standard practice for a troublesome guy anchor on a US Dept. of Energy Radio Tower near Table Rock Dam, just outside of Branson, MO. The engineering and project management responsibilities were handled by Houston's Gem Engineering. Normal guy line anchoring was uneconomical due to severe excavation costs associated with digging a deadman anchor capable of 110 kips. Tahsin Gupinar and David Glasco of Gem engineering chose Williams' 2" Dia. Hollow-Core Rock bolt for their anchor solution. Williams' Spin-Lock anchors can be utilized with a hollow bar for superior grout performance and can be pre-stressed to the design load of the anchor. By pre-stressing the anchor the bolt will resist cyclic loading associated with wind loads, enabling the anchor to resist steel fatigue |

Main Reason They Chose Williams |
||||||||||||
| According to David Glasco, "Williams Hollow Core Rock bolt provided the best solution for a permanent anchor. Given the excellent rock properties a rock bolt minimizes drilling depth, and the Hollow core systems provides permanency in added anchor strength and corrosion protection." | ||||||||||||
