During the summer of 1997, a substantial excavation at Albuquerque, New Mexico's Presbyterian Hospital was enhanced by using over a mile of Williams Grade 75 All-Thread Bar. Albuquerque Caisson of Albuquerque NM performed the ground control activities for the General Contractor Bradbury & Stamm. The temporary ground control design consisted of grouted soil anchors, anchorage hardware , wire mesh and shotcrete. To compensate for angled positioning of the anchors, Williams beveled washers were used with a flat plate and standard Williams Hex nut. This project, as with numerous others, takes advantage of the greater material strength and superior thread design of the Williams All-Thread Bar. This grade 75 product has equivalent strengths in comparison to a grade 60 material, but weighs less making it easier to handle. Chris Blindheim and Tom Brown managed the project for Albuquerque Caisson. The steel hardware was manufactured at the Williams nearby Pueblo CO, and the order was received by the customer within days after placement. Williams maintains substantial inventory levels throughout our (5) North American manufacturing facilities, keeping important jobs on schedule.
