Due to the aging O'Hare Airport facilities, steps are being taken to update the function ability and aesthetics of this complex. One step being taken is the addition of a façade which will separate the arrival and departure lanes with the main terminal. These structures will cover both the upper and lower lanes not only protecting them from the weather, but also creating a more modern look to the older terminals. The structures require massive foundations which incorporate thirty two 1-3/8" Williams 150 KSI All-Thread-Bar Anchors in each of the thirty five foundations. The anchors are being held in a circular pattern with two plates, which are integrated into the reinforcement of the foundation. A PVC sheath was placed on the bars which are fastened to the bottom plate with a nut. The PVC sheath was used as bond breaker, which allowed the load to be transferred to the bottom plate. The anchors were then post tensioned and grouted.
